About Graphpaper Progressions

T T = True Traverse = 0 degrees
R L = Reference Line = 45 degrees
F L = Fall Line = 90 degrees

This protractor projection is one of the tools that helps a beginning snowboarder get oriented to a slope. All of the progressions have this image to the side to assist in an "art is where you start" concept. For example, you would want to begin with simple turns that place the board more across the speed of the fall line to achieve initial success.

You will want to build up your skills by getting good one step at a time before you attempt the next progression. Your first task would be a Skidded Traverse for example. These series of 11 drafts really help map out your plan to WIN as a new snowboarder, not to mention how this can aid in your overall understanding of snowboarding (i.e. edge-catch problems) and increase your confidence.

The colors have their purpose too, which you may be able to figure out. I don't want to give away all the goods.
